Recently, I visited Phillip Island and came across a beautiful cow resting in complete awareness. There was nothing to do, nowhere to be just a quiet presence that instantly drew me in. I couldn’t resist painting it, hoping to capture that same feeling of simply being.
The colours in the background are inspired by the surrounding landscape, while the flowing patterns represent the waves of my own mind constantly moving, searching, and trying to arrive at the present moment. Like many of us, my mind struggled against its own restless nature.
The cow became a gentle reminder that peace isn’t something to achieve; it’s something we return to when we stop resisting the present.
This painting will always remind me to relax like a cow.
